The cannon fired and tigress pushed po out of the way, not wanting shen to finish the job. But in saving him, she put herself in the crosshairs. The last thing she heard was po screaming “no!” before everything went dark. They all get blown back into the water. Po frantically looks around to see four of the five along with shifu were all fine, but tigress wasn’t moving. He hurries as fast as he could manage over to the tiger. “tigress!” he gently touches her paw, praying she would he alright. She wasn’t moving at all. The water around her was stained crimson. The others look in horror. Shen laughs evilly. “finish them off. Looks like even these so called masters of Kung Fu are no match for me!” po turns toward the peacock and the expression he had actually frightened the lord. But he recovers. “try it, panda. You can’t beat me. The rest of your species died trying to survive like you and failed. I wasn’t aiming for her, but boo hoo. Too bad. So sad” he regretted saying this. Against his training and his teachings, the dragon warrior mercilessly lunges at and breaks the peacock’s neck without a second thought. He turns towards the wolves and they all run with their tails between their legs. Once his anger subsided, all he felt now was sadness. He collapsed to his knees, sobbing. He was always afraid something like this would happen, but never thought it’d actually happen. He leaves without the others, needing to be alone right now.
Shifu and the others get tigress’s body to the shore to discover she was badly injured, but wasn’t dead like po had thought. They were all shocked more by how he reacted to him thinking tigress had died. They’d never seen him actually angry and were actually afraid of what he was capable of when angered. The four turn to the red panda. “why’d he do that?” he sadly looks at the comatose tiger. “revenge. It’s not something I would ever teach any of you. But sometimes revenge can be necessary given the circumstances…” the old master sighs. “the rest of you? Start helping with cleanup. That peacock made a mess of this city. I’ll make sure tigress is cared for. And, if you can, try to find po.” they nod and head off. The soothsayer finds the same panda that had been here before. but he wasn’t all happy and ignorant like last time. He was silent and looked depressed. “did you find inner peace like I was showing you?” he silently shakes his head. “I did before, but those wounds are healed. I have something new tormenting me and it was thanks to that… peacock!” he spats out angrily. “he took the one thing away from me I still had. I know my parents are gone, but that’s expected after so long. But since I had started training at the palace, I had always admired and looked up to the masters there. But shen took the one away from me that really mattered” she understood what he was saying. “I saw possible bad outcomes for that fight. But you did defeat shen like the prophecy stated” “but at a great cost. One too great for me to bear…” he gets back up and leaves before she could tell him the truth.
*back at the jade palace, one month later* tigress had been nursed back to health but po had never returned with the others. They really did try to look for him, but just couldn’t find him. Shifu waited patiently for her daughter to awake. He was afraid she might never at this rate. But she stirs and opens her golden eyes. Her vision takes a moment to focus and she notices she was back in the palace. She sits up and is met with terrible pain, making her growl in discomfort. Shifu sighs. “calm yourself. You injuries will open back up if you aren’t careful” she looks at him in surprise. “what do you mean? Where am I? Who are you?” he goes silent. She had lived and trained here for over twenty years and he had raised her and yet she remembered nothing. “you just have gotten amnesia from the hit you took. I’m your father and teacher. You’re in where you grew up!” she was able to stand now, but was limping. “I… can vaguely remember, but everything is really fuzzy right now. Just give me a minute.” her thoughts came rushing back after she gathered them. “shifu, how long was I out? Was shen defeated?” “it’s been a month and yes, he was defeated.” “but how? I don’t remember anything” the red panda remembered what happened all too well as he almost lost her and witnessed po’s darker side. “honestly, how it happened isn’t important. But you should go find and thank the dragon warrior for defeating shen” she felt ashamed. “I’m sorry. I failed you again” he calmly shakes his head. “no you haven’t. You never could’ve expected what…” he swallows. “...happened” she was worried. “tell me what happened, please master” he knew she’d need to know. “well, after you were hit by shen’s main cannon, we thought you had died. you weren’t moving and were bleeding badly. po took it the hardest though. seeing you like that changed him. He killed shen with no remorse and we haven’t seen him since.” she was shocked. “po would never do that! He couldn’t have" shifu shakes his head. She had to know. “I need to find him! Where did he go?” “we don’t know. We’ve looked everywhere in the valley and can’t find him. But even if we did know where he was, he believes you to be dead. After his anger was gone, he had started crying. we’ve all seen him do this before, but these weren’t tears of joy like in the past, it was of loss. He has not voiced it, but he looks like he really cared about you.”
she was really worried about him now. “I must find him to make sure he’s okay” the tiger turns and leaves without waiting for permission this time. She goes to po’s obviously adoptive father Mr ping to sl him. “Mr ping, have you seen po?” the goose looked like he was looking at a ghost. “b-but you’re dead! Po told me! I haven’t seen him in a while and I’m worried sick, but he told me you were dead!” she shakes her head. “I somehow managed to survive. But do you know where he went?” the goose nods. “he’s left the valley. He told me he had no more reason to stay anymore. I miss him” she was astonished that the panda would leave the valley.
Tigress returned to the jade palace with a blank expression. They may have been trying to get rid of po at first, but she didn’t want that anymore. She had a lot of respect for po now, not only for the enemies he had defeated, but his genuine concern for her when shen had shot her. She sits down in front of the peace tree of infinite wisdom to meditate on this and try to think of where the panda would go and why he would leave without at least saying goodbye. Her concentration was broken when she hears footsteps heading home n her direction. She opens her golden eyes to face her father. Shifu sighs, already seeing her troubled expression. “you shouldn’t dwell on po so much. We must try to look to the future and defend the valley the best we can” she understood but she also didn’t understand why he was so calm about this. She had known him almost her entire life so she could tell he was hiding something. Her ears flatten and he hears a low growl come from her. “you know why po left the valley, don’t you?” the red panda doesn’t answer. She wasn’t going to let him give her the silent treatment, not this time. “with respect, master. I must know” he knew how much po had started meaning to her lately. “after his actions against shen, and after you wouldn’t wake up, I blamed him for your injuries and had him leave. If he can fail to protect even his fellow students, how can he protect the valley?” she couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “YOU DID WHAT?!” the other four heard her from the palace and all got startled out of their sleep. Viper knew something was wrong. She hears monkey and Mantis chuckling. “looks like shifu spilled the beans. She sounds pissed!” viper slithers angrily at them. “wait, you know what shifu did?” they were surprised she didn’t know. “shifu banished po for his actions a year ago. You didn’t know? We assumed he told you” viper was starting to guess why she wasn’t told. She spoke to tigress a lot and if she had known the truth, tigress would be furious. The red panda regretted saying that. He knew getting his daughter angry like this was a terrible idea. But she doesn’t attack him or anything, she flees the grounds to try and find the panda. The other four hurry down to shifu.
The master sighs. “follow her. Make sure she doesn’t leave the valley. We can’t have her bringing po back” they look at each other and shake their heads. Monkey spoke. “I know po can be a gluttonous idiot, but why can’t he come back? Shen was bad anyway and tigress is fine!” shifu shakes his head. “because I had a previous student that started showing their darker side and that side started taking over. You all know who I’m talking about. I also don’t want tigress to follow the same path” they reluctantly follow the feline. she was moving a lot quicker than the others had anticipated and were having trouble keeping up. She knew they’d follow her after hearing her yelling at shifu, so she did what she could to avoid them. She moved a lot faster alone than she did with the others following. She makes it to the bridge that marked the edge of the valley and was across it before the others could stop her. They stop and pant. Crane couldn’t believe it. “she moves a LOT faster when she has a reason to. Why is she so worried about po?” the other three look at each other and laugh at him. “you can’t tell? It’s super obvious those two like each other! Even shifu knows this. Beats me why he doesn’t want it to happen” Crane understood now, but now their friend and leader has left the valley alone. Tigress remembered po mentioning the ruined panda village he had lived in before shen had attacked and destroyed the village. She was starting to see why po had been so bothered about shen when they first faced him. The area was littered with ruined houses and bones half buried in the dirt. The place was a panda graveyard. This was making her think to how she felt when she thought po had died when he had gotten shot by the cannon. She understood why po would leave with shifu blaming him for it. She finds one house that looked to have renovated and fixed. But the door had a heavy lock on it. She tries breaking it, but the long coma had weakened her and she was tired from outrunning her friends to escape the valley. She hears movement inside. “po? Are you there?” the movement stops at the door. He stood there with a heavy heart. ‘she isn’t really there. It’s my mind playing tricks on me again.’ he returns further into the house, not opening the door. It was starting to rain and tigress couldn’t believe this. She goes around the back. She tried from every angle of the house to try and break open some kind of entrance into the house, but it seemed reinforced and she was growing tired. the panda she was trying to get to never remembered the dreams going like this. He had imagined tigress would come looking and she wasn’t really dead, but she had never tried actually break into the house before. From a mix and exhaustion and frustration, she finally gave up trying to get in. She laid on the ground and fell asleep, despite the rain. po peaks outside to see if it was actually true. He finds she had collapsed from exhaustion trying to get in after getting here from the valley. He carefully carries her inside.
*a few hours later* she awakes, feeling pain in her side like she had when she had awoken from her coma yesterday. She wasn’t outside any longer. She looks around and listens. Po normally made a lot of noise moving around, but she couldn’t hear him. She looks outside to see the rain has stopped and it was sunny out. She finds she had fresh bandages on her wounds. Her old ones had gotten soggy in the rain. She walks around the house. “wow. this place looks brand new. How did po build this in a month by himself?” she finds his trunk of Kung Fu memorabilia and opens it. She finds the action figure of her, but the other ones were gone. She notices it had some paint missing from what looked like drops of water. She sits it back down and continues to wander the house until she decided to step outside to find po. She really needed to talk to him and try to get him to come back with her. She didn’t care what shifu thought right now. She was surprised at the back field of the house. ‘there’s no way he did this in a month’ she finally finds him at the training area he had made. he looked thinner and had a determined expression. The training figures resembled lord shen, much to her surprise. He didn’t screw around like he used to. The figures were destroyed by him in seconds. A splinter nearly hits her. He turns to her. “oh. You’re awake. I… I’m sorry for what happened to you. I never should have come to the temple in The first place. You guys hated me and probably still do after what happened to you” she didn’t know how to respond to that. He continues. “going there was a huge mistake. If I had just stayed at the noodle shop, you would’ve been the dragon warrior and I wouldn’t have put you in the line of fire when we fought when. You’re strong and unbreakable, unlike me. I’m just a fat panda” she couldn’t believe her enthusiastic friend was looking at everything with such despair. She had to slap some sense into him somehow. “while I would have agreed it being a mistake before, I have no doubts of you now. If you hadn’t literally fallen into our lives, Tai lung would have killed us and the valley would be undefended.” he turns away from his feline friend. “I know, but I should have left after that. I never wanted to see you or the others get hurt or killed like I thought you had. I might just be dreaming right now and you’re still dead…”
she smirks and punches him in the stomach. “still think it’s a dream now, po?” he doubles over in pain. He didn’t have as much fat as he used to, so that actually really hurt. “wow. You still haven’t lost your strength over the past year you’ve been out, have you?” she looks at him in disbelief as he got up from the ground. “what do you mean a year? Shifu told me it had been a month” he shakes his head. “we both know he’d be more patient than that. After the first couple of months, he sent me away, telling me to never return. We believed you’d never wake up. I’ve been out here ever since. But sleeping hasn’t been easy. I kept imagining you would come back and knock on the door, I’d open it, and you’d have a gaping hole through your chest. I also can’t stand fireworks anymore. they just remind me of the cannons” she could tell by the bags under his jade eyes. But the dream he kept having worried her. “seeing me get hit like that really bothered you, didn’t it?” he walks back towards the house. “yes. But I’m fine here. You should probably head back before the others come searching for you. Now that he knew she was alive, he had something he really wanted to tell her, but he knew that would be pointless if she lived in the valley where he was banished from. The four remaining members of the furious five return to shifu. “we couldn’t stop her in time. She has left the valley to find po.” the red panda was afraid of this. “then from now in, keep an eye out. she can’t stay out there forever. I won’t let my daughter do this unpunished" the four exchange glances. They were starting to doubt the master’s logic. Shifu was acting like those two committed terrible crimes when they really didn’t.
po goes inside, but leaves the door open. she couldn’t decide if she was angry at him or sympathetic. she remembers the moment on the boat. she walks inside after him. “po. you remember that night when we were sparring on the boat because you couldn’t sleep?” he nods. “yeah, what about it?” “why did you say i was too hardcore to feel emotion?” this hit him pretty hard, he hadn’t meant it in a negative way, he had been trying to compliment her. “i had meant during battle. you always stay so focused and get the job done. i wasn’t saying…” she felt a little better with his answer, but still didn’t like how he viewed her. “now i need to know exactly what you did when you thought i had died. the reason shifu banished you” he realizes she was making him get everything out in the open now. “I came over to you and there was blood everywhere. you weren’t moving at all and shen mocked me for it. I had lunged at him and broke his neck, squeezing The life from him for what he did to you.”
Tigress now knew why shifu had refused to say what happened. She backs away a bit, shaking her head. “why would you do that?? I know he almost killed me, but come on po! This isn’t like you!” the panda knew she’d be upset about it. “I did it because I wasn’t going to let what I thought was your murderer get away. He deserved to pay. You mean too much to me to let something like that to slide.” she had to know something. “and what if it hadn’t been me? Would you have reacted the same way if one of the other four had almost been killed or worse?” he shakes his head, admitting it. “no. Only you” she shakes her head in disbelief. “why just me then? I know you’d be destroyed if any of the others died, why am I so important?” “well, I have said you’re my favorite” she crosses her arms. “there’s more to it than me being your favorite. You’re beating around the bush here. Just spit out the real reason behind why I’m so important to you or I will leave and you won’t see me ever again” she knew saying this would get him to talk. he knew she was good at getting him to listen. “well tigress, I was trying to avoid saying it because you have a home to go back to and I don’t want to keep you from it.” she already knew what he was refusing to say and calmly sighs. “po. You can tell me what you want to say. I know I have a home to go back to and once I can convince shifu, so will you. So please just say it” he could tell she already knew, but she wanted him to actually admit it. “fine. I love you, tigress. But again, I don’t want to keep you if it means being away from your friends and family.”
she smiles. “other than shifu, the others probably support us on this already. Everyone could tell” she then nears and hugs him. Due to him actually trying to train and lay off all the eating, she could actually wrap her arms around him now. The four had actually decided to go looking beyond the valley. “where do you think they went?” asks viper, actually really worried about the two. Crane lands from him flying to look. “we are nearing the ruins of an old panda village. It looks very similar to the one po described in his visions. There’s a single house that isn’t destroyed in the center of the town" this was good news. Monkey starts going faster. “then come on! That’s probably where they’re at!” tigress quickly lets go of the panda, her ears twitching. “oh no” po knew why she was saying this. “they went looking for us, didn't they?” she be grudgingly nods. “I had meant to come see you alone without them interrupting.” the two walk outside. Their four friends hurry over to them. “there you are! This place was hard to find” the four then look in surprise at po. “you look different. Laying off on the dumplings?” po shrugs. “I haven’t eaten since I had left the valley” even tigress wasn’t expecting him to say that. The others were speechless. mantis laughs. “you’re joking right? You can’t go five minutes without thinking about food.”
the panda turns away. “until today, I’ve had no appetite. I tried eating but couldn’t stomach it thinking about what I had done.” the four turn to tigress. “are you sure this is po? He is not acting himself at all” she smiles and nods. “it’s him. The year away after what he thought happened to me must’ve changed him.” Crane had to ask. “you two do anything while we were looking? The others told me…” tigress frown, but gets a fun idea. “I’ll tell you if you tell us what you and mei ling do when it’s just the two of you” Crane looks around at everyone nervously. They hadn’t known about this and were itching to hear this. He turns to tigress, who had a smug grin on her face. “h-how’d you know?” “it’s really quite obvious. She’s always so excited to see you and you two always spend at least one moment alone every time she visits. Which has been quite often I must say. Plus you two have been close friends for twenty years. it’s obvious something would happen.” Crane knew the jig was up. “we’ve been seeing each other. We’ve known each other long enough for it to just feel right. Okay, now for you tigress. Why did you go through so much trouble to find him?” she nods. “i love him. why else would i come all the way out here just to find him?” the four give them their support and congratulate them. “but what are you going to do now?” po and tigress look at each other. “we haven’t thought of what to do now. we could just return to protecting the valley” they exchange glances before shaking their heads. “but this may bring a problem if one of you, in a worst case scenario sort of way, died. the other would never be the same!” tigress already understood this.
“what are you implying?” “you know as well as the rest of us that the original furious five did eventually disband and go their separate ways, maybe you should choose whether to settle down or return to the valley alone to continue defending it. it’s up to you” tigress furiously points out crane’s relationship. “but we only see each other every once in awhile. if you two returned to your duties and kept a relationship, you’d be more focused on each other than the rest of us and we know it hasn’t happened, but you never know if one of the bad guys got a lucky hit on one of you with something sharp. we already saw how po reacted when you almost died, tigress. we’re trying to help you two!” Po puts a hand on her shoulder. “it’s okay, tigress. i’ll be fine. maybe we could have the same kind of relationship as crane and mei ling. you could defend the valley and come visit me sometimes. it’s no big deal” she bites her lip, unsure what to do. if she stayed with po, she be with who she loved, but would be turning her back on her friends and father, but it would be the same way if she returned to the valley without po. “but po is the dragon warrior, shifu can’t really ban him!” they hadn’t thought of that. “that’s true. he could at least stay in the valley, but probably stay away from the jade palace until we can get shifu to let you back considering tigress is alive and well and not dead in a coma like shifu had originally thought. we should go!”
po hurries inside to pack his things. “you guys are awesome! why didn’t i think of that?” as they waited for po to finish, they had to ask tigress. “...did anything happen while we were looking for you?” she quickly shakes her head, her face turning red. “no! well, not yet. you guys interrupted before…” po quickly runs out with his pack, walks over to tigress, and kisses her on the lips. “well, now we have” the others snicker. mantis whispers to monkey. ‘you owe me a lot of almond cookies when we get back’ monkey was now not as excited about this. viper shoots them a venomous look and they shut up. “you two shouldn’t be placing bets on them! it’s rude!” viper was actually a little upset and jealous of her friends. who she loved was already taken and she didn’t want to intrude. little did she know, the relationship between crane and mei ling was starting to go cold because of the distance and their lives. crane notices viper’s saddened expression. “are you okay?” she nods her head, but her body language said otherwise. “yeah, i’m fine. just a little tired” Tigress knew what was bothering viper but didn’t want to say anything right now. it would make the situation pretty awkward. they head back after po takes one last look at the home he had lived at for almost an entire year of solitude. but if it meant seeing who he loved and protecting the valley still, he was willing to the let the place go. he was happy to see the place again.
mr. Ping was starting to close the shop that evening with a saddened expression. he missed his son, even if he was just his adopted son. he hears footsteps and turns around to see po and the furious five walk in. the goose runs over and hugs the panda. “you came back! i was afraid i’d never see you again!” po smiles warmly. “it’s good to see you, dad. i had good reason to come back” the five minus tigress return to the jade palace, saying they’d see her there later on. the goose backs up a bit seeing the tiger. after tai lung, he didn’t trust the big cats. “what’s the tiger doing here??” Po had forgotten to tell mr ping about tigress. Tigress’s ears flatten, glaring at the goose, a low growl emitting from her throat this makes him squeal in fear. po puts a hand on her shoulder. “come on. i can explain” “dad, you’ve probably seen her before, this is Master Tigress. she is awesome and one of master Shifu’s students. she’s also my girlfriend now” the goose looks at po like was crazy. “b-but she’s a tiger!” po shrugs it off. “and? is that an issue? don’t worry, she only attacks the bad guys. she isn’t like song or tai lung” tigress didn’t like hearing about either of those leopards. she punches him in the side. “i’ve told you not to mention those two.” he backs up a bit. “okay! okay! i’m sorry” “wait, isn’t she dead? Wait i remember! You were here earlier today. I Apologize. It’s been rather busy here today and…” she calmly nods. “good. It’s fine. Po will be returning here to the valley to stay. you will be seeing me more often. I’ll even help out while visiting” mr Ping felt much better now that he remembered her and she was friendly even after his fear of her being a tiger. tigers were very rare and feared for good reason. other than tigress, they were normally very dangerous and caused a lot of damage. tigress waited while po explained to his dad everything going on right now and the story of Tigress. mr ping felt bad now. “i am so sorry, po. i had no idea she meant so much to you. please forgive me. i was jumping to conclusions”
they hear a lot of banging around and run out to see the wolves that had been helping shen until he had been killed were ambushing tigress. but she was ready. po and mr ping cover their eyes after seeing how pissed she seemed. after it was over and the wolves were all passed out and some probably needed to go to the hospital, she walks over with barely a scratch on her. mr ping turns back to po. “remind me to never get her angry” she hears that and grins. “oh, i’d love a reason” this causes him to hide behind po. po notices she actually had blood covering her paws. “did you hurt yourself?” she smiles again. “that isn’t my blood” he backs up a bit. “yeesh!” she sighs contently. “i needed that fight after what’s happened lately. either that or being out for so long had me itching to fight something” she has village guards take the wolves off. she walks over to po and kisses him. “i’m sorry po, but i need to go. but i promise we’ll get this all sorted out. you have my word” he nods and she runs off towards the jade palace to try and get shifu to listen to her for once.
